I'm a bit lost here bigjohn, I thought you thought it was Nina Hagen who did 99 Red Balloons. I was just pointing out it was a different person. I think I like the NH version better just for a change, as has already been said, a lot of bands cover the original "Stick" now. I like 99 Red Balloons too

The names are far too similar. Not to mention the Buffalo Stance. Dead giveaway. Edited July 12, 2010 by bigjohn
Higgie
It's different.. at least it gets away from the original but I fear it will spawn a whole new host of cover versions for pub bands which we can do without, IMV.
GUILTY! I'm suggesting this ASAP

OldGit
It has always been the classic track.. but every band and their dog does it now...which is the type of song I tend to want to leave well alone. I don't see then point of going to see every band do the same set...well, you know what I mean....
Really? Oh dear.. No one round here's done it whilst I've been in the room .. Doesn't mean they don't though

Buzz
I really enjoyed that, fairly different to the original, but a good different.
thepurpleblob
Nina Hagen is just brilliant. The Germans do everything properly Back in the 80s I had a huge crush on her. Says something about my taste in women!!
Bassassin
Excellent version. And very appealing to those of us who play in female-fronted rock bands. Anyway I've found a video for this - turns out it's Ms Hagen guesting on a 1994 track by a German band with a somewhat NSFW name: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gi6Hx4G3BCo Das ist gut, ja, ist es nicht?
It's actually called 99 luft ballons.
