thisnameistaken
I used to just dislike it but now I am starting to really hate that f***ing goofy American ska sound. If I ever bump into Reel Big Fish I will punch each of them in the face.

parker_muse
I can't stand any third wave apart from some sublime, which is much more melodic and harks to the more 2tone aspect. Second wave is my favourite, The Specials debut album being one of my all time favourites. Nite Klub has a gorgeous bassline. If i knew how to link i would but i'm sure you skaheads know it! ThomBassmonkey
I've started to listen to some US Ska recently, mainly because we have a gig coming up with Streetlight Manifesto (Derby date on their next UK mini tour) and I've never really heard of them. Capdown's Pound for the Sound is a good tune, plus lots of Streetlight Stuff.

Whereas it's really obvious that the American 'ska' bands were listening to other white American ska bands. And perhaps childrens cartoons. They give ska a bad name, it really bothers me that that's what people think ska is now.

Nothing 'goofy' about it just plain good musicians playing great music.
Wil
Streetlight can't really be called ska these days though - they tend to throw in calypso, funk, all sorts. Jamaican ska and modern 3rd/4th wave ska really are different genres tied togther by skanking guitar, so I can relate to liking one and not the other. Ou7shined
As a nipper in the late '70s early '80s I was massively into the 2 Tone thing. These are a 2 of my favourite bass lines from then that I still fart about with today. simple but effective exquisite P tone
