Old vs new Squier necks?

I've got an old MIK Squier (92-93) and unfortunately damaged the neck, and now need a replacement.

I was wondering if a neck from a new (china) Squier would fit the pocket of my old MIK Squier body?

I don't see why not, I thought they all had a standard pocket.

Well I've fitted a Fender Jazz neck to a 93-94 MIJ Squier. I tried to fit the same neck to a 2002 Indonesian Squier and it fitted the body ok but the bridge didn't have enough vertical adjustment for the strings to clear the fretboard. With a decent adjustable bridge it would have been ok.
