A professional repair, methinks.
I don't think I'd tackle that myself.
Not insurmountable, though. A bit of glue, a couple of days in some clamps and a quick tidy up and it'll be right as rain again.
WTF happened? Did it get dropped? Strap fall off of a strap button?

Without sounding too cynical, I'd say your neck's f***ed, and as stated above a good repairman would glue it together and it'll be tougher than ever. How did you achieve such gruelling result?

Was it already repaired? Looks like a sloppy glue job between the neck and fretboard already... and what's the black block where the crack starts?

Who the F did you let at that??

I don't think all is lost, though. Although dirt and mositure will have already gotten in there, wenge - for I presume that's what I'm looking at - is a very dense wood and althoug has a lot of open 'pore' doesn't absorb too much water when dried. There is no reason that neck connot be fixed. It'll need cleaned and glued along with a couple of wenge stringers. Get a Pro to do it. Might cost a few quid but if there's an attachment to it, then no contest!

squirt a bit of araldite in there & hold it together for ten minutes & it'll be good as new. :)

Nah - take to someone who knows what they're doing - I bet Si (Old Git) will know the best place near Cardiff to take it. If it was mine (S London) I'd on the way to the Gallery or Charlie Chandlers or Feline depending on how far I could be bothered to travel.

The glue was just a blotch i got on the neck ages ago because im clumsy (see pics). The black block is a rosewood volute the previous owner decided to put on. I know, wtf?!!? :)

I've gigged a streamer stage 2 that had this damage and had been repaired. It was rock solid and gave no trouble at all.

There is hope for this one, despair Ye not.

I've got a bass that looked worse than this. The truss rod came right out of the back off the neck. It had to be glued and submerged in a bath for 3 days in a jig.

Right as rain though now!

Really good, the neck is solid as ever. Way better than I expected, you can tell its been fixed though, i guess if id taken it to a pro you wouldnt be able to see the glue seams. Still, only cost about £5 rather than around £200. :)

Got to be honest when I first saw the damage to your bass I cringed - thought it could have been fatal if not very expensive - looks good as new. Hope it plays as well as it looks. Now don't be leaning that on any more rotating chairs..
