nu_mike
Welcome to all readers. It is my unhappy duty to try to find a buyer for a very specialised bass guitar made for a friend shortly before he died. The guitar is an Iceni Zoot Boudicca, five string fretless bass together with a Hiscox flight case. Pictures are attached, please forgive the quality as they were taken with my son's phone camera. I believe it has an active pickup which can be coil tapped. Unfortunately, I don't know what woods were used in its manufacture As stated he had it hand made and took delivery two days before he was diagnosed with abdominal cancer which spread rapidly to his brain. His wife said that he only took it out of the case once. We have documentation to prove that the purchase price was £1750.00 , and the case cost extra - but the invoice for that has gone missing. I was fortunate enough to be able to contact Mike Walsh who made it, and he advised me to use the facilities of this site to find a consensus of expert opinion as to its resale value - so if you don't want to buy, could you please be kind enough to give me some idea of a ballpark figure. We are in N.E. Essex and I think it would be both difficult and expensive to try to find a carrier who would transport it and insure it for its full value at a reasonable price. I'm sure interested purchasers would be able to try it before committing themselves to buying - but by appointment only. Please address all communications to: [email protected] with Iceni Zoot in the subject box, so it doesn't get routed into junk mail. (n. All the reflections in the guitars finish are from the roof of the conservatory where I had to photograph it to get sufficient light. Thank you for your interest. 9th July. I've been contacted by the Site Moderator and asked to put a firm price on the bass. After a lot of advice from other members, together with my friend's widow, we'll try for £1200 or near offer. However, you must be prepared to convince the lady that she wouldn't get a better price.... Many thanks. Mike. whynot
Very sad event leading to this sale. I purchased a Boudica from Mike several years back and £1750 new sounds about right if a recent build. Lovely looking bass and best of luck with the sale.
gilmour
That's a very good looking Boudicca you've got there, albeit in very sad cicumstances. It's hard to put a price on a custom bass especially one that comes up as infrequently as these. Here's links to the last two sold on here, although both were some time ago and not brand new. Hope that's some help. alanbass1
The problem with custome built basses is that thye do not hold their value as well as the mainstream production basses. I had a custome buld Iceni Zoot which cost me £1800 and I got £750 for it! £1000 would be a fair price all round - good luck with the sale
Rayman
That's a beautiful bass, and it's a terrible shame that custom basses don't hold the value so well, but I'd be very happy to pay £1200 for it, however as mentioned above, it's more likely to get about a grand, and it's worth every penny of that. giblett123
A lovely example of high quality piece of craftsmanship, this has to be worth a bump & probably wont hang around long, as with everyone else, v sorry to hear about your friend.

xgsjx
Such a beautiful bass & had I the pennies, I would have taken this at a generous price as it ticks all the boxes for me. If you're not lloking for a quick sale, I'd stick £1200 on it and look for offers (although not from Skylark ). Good luck with the sale, excellent basses, yet another bump. largo
I don't want to sound heartless but perhaps the poster could contact Mike Walsh and get some more information regards the bass. Wood types, neck scale, electronics, string spacing etc. It may not help much for the value of the bass, but would give potential buyers more detail. The intention is to sell this bass after all ! Sibob
I have emailed the OP to provide a price and hopefully more details! Please refrain from calling each other names, you wanna do that, go to Off Topic (and we'll still ban you )....this is a sale forum!
