Russ
I don't own one, but I spent some time playing through one a couple of weeks back. Great head. Sounds, to my ears, very like an SVT-3, but with more power and bit less in the way of tone shaping (no graphic, only one valve in the preamp). It sounds like an Ampeg, basically, and that's a good thing. Looking forward to trying this head with the new Ampeg neodymium-loaded cabinets - that could be my next rig. Anton346
Really recommend getting a SVT-7. Its great that something so lightweight can deliver such a typically great Ampeg sound. I use mine through an 8x10 and it moves some serious air as well as giving your sound some serious balls! Like Russ says, theres not a great amount of tone shaping but theres your basic bass, mid and treble controls as well as a compressor and if you have an active eq on your bass then with all combined, you should definitely get the tone your after. Hope you get what your after!
