It gathers ways of grooving from different forums, bass players (such as Stuart Zender from early Jamiroquai albums) and my personnal stuffs! I hope it can help some of you people out there!! algmusic Posted July 15, 2010 Share Posted July 15, 2010 I like the fact that you've started with just playing simple things. I did a gig with Winston blissett (I was on drums). skankdelvar Posted July 15, 2010 Share Posted July 15, 2010 (edited) IMO that's a pretty useful blog for beginning groovers and contains some handy reminders for the more 'exuberant' experts. Anything that might reduce the amount of contextually unneccessary overplaying is good for a Nobel Prize. Personally, I'd try to get the 'articles' to read chronologically top to bottom. Reading these things in reverse order can be a bit confusing for old men like me. Either way, nice effort (good comic / newspaper analogy) and ta for posting the link to it. I think we should make a concerted effort here on Basschat to extoll the virtues of [i]plod[/i] and it associated flat-footed, inarticulate 'IT'-less sub-genres. I wonder if you can shed some light on a track I love. It's "Somewhere in Between" by Kate Bush, and the bassist is Pino Palladino. Most of the time he's playing incredibly simple lines, but there is a feeling to it that I just cannot capture. Any tips? Government guidelines suggest the recommended daily intake of Groove is no more than 12.5%, or 1/8th if you will. Feel is 25%, taste has a R.D.A. of 10% and influences vary from 30% to a staggering level, 42% in some cases. IMHO, I think it is what Victor Wooten says about breathing along a bass line: you do not breath really fast or in a staccato way when you want to express something cool for example. Wooten says one has to breath along his/her bassline and I think it really helps. Something I found really interesting was when I tried to compose a song for my girlfriend - I first started breathing like if I was with her and very excited. With this breathing pattern I made a bass line and then composed a song (that I think looks like a love/sexy song ) It is on [url="http://www.myspace.com/remikerhoas"]my myspace page[/url] if you want to listen to it, it is called "rainy paris".
