Shipping guitars from the US

I've looked into shipping a bass from the US on a few occasions - and the guitarist I play with had an ok experience getting his boutique number shipped from Amerikay - but the thought of spending £1000 on something fragile and having it flown into the hands of Customs/Delivery Companies etc still gives me the heebie jeebies.

Anyway this is apparently how much it SHOULD cost to ship a $2000 guitar from Uncle Sam

I find the ebay dutycalculator a very revealing tool as well.
If somebody could point me in the direction of a [b]free[/b] ebay and paypal fee calculator for the UK, I'd be a very happy chappie.
