willyf87 Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 Hi Guys, May seem like a stupid question but i was looking at getting a DI box just in case my amp ever fails me, I currently use alot of distortion and overdrive as well as other modulation effects in the band I'm in currently. Could a DI box be able to handle that? I was thinking of running an EQ pedal at the start of the chain then my effects to the di and then out. Would that work or would it sound pony? Cheers! Quote
Low End Bee Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 I've often used a Bass Big Muff and Bad Monkey before a Sansamp BDDI in gig situations. No problems. Just make sure you use the effects on the sound check so you don't startle the sound person during the gig. Quote
Mr. Foxen Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 I think the Sansamp has a built in speaker sim treble roll off, other DIs might not have which can make some horrible sound from distortion into PA tweeters. Quote
Mog Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 A good DI should have no problem. Get the best you can afford. MXR or Tech 21 are probably the best around at the mo IMO. For a bare bones DI you wont go far wrong with Radial. Quote
willyf87 Posted July 16, 2010 Author Posted July 16, 2010 Cheers guys, I was looking into getting one of the dave hall hand made ones, either just the standard DI and use my eq pedal with it or the DI with the EQ onboard as well, anyone had experience with these Di's? Quote
