wateroftyne
Mine would look EXACTLY like this... ...but without the tone knob. I don't like complicated basses.
metalmickey
Sweet - there's something about a stripped down P-bass...... The escence of simplicity made even simpler........
tauzero
I feel some of you are missing the point...... This is not a 'perfect bass' thread its a signature bass thread.... the two are not necassarily the same or even in the same street!!!
So presumably your signature bass is the bass you are most associated with? For me, that would probably be a fretless 4-string Warwick Thumb NT. I think having my signature (such as it is) inlaid in MoP (or MoTS) into the front would be quite tasty too. Dammit, some bastard's beaten me to it... It'll have to be the Tony Tsai 5-string then. Mr. Foxen
Amount of time I spent thinking about this... Then realised the Attitude is a bit close, and I don't play nearly like Sheehan. P pup and neck humbucker, add through strung and maybe 35" scale to cope with the tuning down to A and still have some string tension. Notch in the headstock for the on the cab feedback moments. Wooody finish, maybe walnut and purpleheart. Total low end madness and not much else. This is pretty close:

Dusty
A good question this.... Mine would be ..... Lakland USA Joe Osborn Jazz Neck, (far nicer than the Korean JO's and DD's) Birds eye maple fretboard, NO Headstock & made thru neck into a Rickenbacker shaped body. Status individual tuners. Music Man Pick Up at the Bridge and Lindy Fralin Jazz Pick Up near the Neck. Black Body Mirror Pickguard. And Made by Mike at Zoot Bass / Bass Merchant (does the plug get me a discount) ? Would probably look horrible, but you did ask !! Failing that... the new slimline Status if they could match the JO profile Neck
CPBass
Id go for a Warwick myself. My Fortress seems to cater for my every need. I had an Ebony board put on and a hipshot D-tuner. Shes my signature for sure. Shes cowin' lush:) C

lowhand_mike
only just seen this so.. money no object or not, a signiture bass is self indulgence and that is really the whole point, spend as much or as little on it as you want, it's YOUR bass after all. why have it like that, er because i can... simple me? not sure not had a massive experience with different basses, i'd like a warrick but with a thinner neck, or an ibanez SR but with a slightly larger body. or a stingray with a thinner laminate neck like the ibanez SR's. i'd really like a custom ibanez SR with like i said slightly larger body, graphite neck and maybe a humbucker in the bridge position but the soap at the neck and a figured top over the mahogany body, through neck if possible would be cool.
