EMU 1820m Digital Audio System

Recommended Posts

This is on Ebay at the moment but I'm having some childish bidders. It's got a BIN of £180 so for BC'ers would take the closest offer to £160 shipped which is daylight robbery for such a great piece of kit! Here is the write up:

"Here for sale is my beloved EMU 1820m audio interface. This has given me many faithful years of service through my University degree for Cubase recording, and doing preproduction for my band's demos. It is a world class interface and widely recognised as the best piece of gear that EMU has ever made. It has the same AD-DA converters as a ProTools HD rig, has many I/O options, works as a Firewire card, has separate PCI mother and Sync cards for word clock usage, extensive routing, Hi-Z instrument inputs that double as Microphone and Line inputs, turntable input for DJ usage, MIDI I/O, onboard DSP and a fully featured, highly flexible software mixer in the form on the Patchmix DSP software. The unit is extremely low latency, I used to have my latency at a mere 2ms and never noticed any issues when tracking at all, and the ASIO drivers are top notch.

The entire system is in extremely good condition, with all parts included. These are: AudioDock breakout, EMU 1010 PCI card, Sync Daughte Card, RJ45 cable to connect AudioDock to PCI card, Manual, Driver Disc & connector cable between 1010 card and Sync card. Comes fully boxed.

Here is a specification list from the EMU site:

Mastering-grade 24-bit, 192kHz converters - the same A/D converters used in Digidesign's flagship ProTools HD I/O Interface
Flexible connectivity with 18 audio inputs and 20 outputs, 32 channels of MIDI I/O, Word Clock, SMPTE and MTC sync, plus a FireWire port for seamless integration with your entire studio
Two premium TFPro mic preamps with Mic/Line/Hi-Z inputs with 40db of gain/attenuation and 48V phantom power - plug guitars, keyboards and microphones straight into your system
E-DSP 32-bit Multi-effects Processor offers you over 16 simultaneous hardware-accelerated studio-grade effects with no CPU overhead - plug-in architecture allows you to add new effects as needed
32 Channels of zero latency Hardware Mixing/ Monitoring with super-flexible virtual patchbay - no external mixer needed
Full compatibility with most popular audio/sequencer applications with ultra-low latency WDM, DirectSound and ASIO 2.0 Drivers
I/O Configuration:
Two TFPro Mic/Line/Hi-Z preamps (w/48V phantom power)
Six 1/4 in. Balanced Inputs
Eight 1/4 in. Balanced Outputs
Turntable input (w/ground lug and hardware RIAA preamp)
24-bit/192kHz ADAT In/Out (switchable to S/PDIF)
24-bit/96kHz coaxial S/PDIF In/Out (switchable to AES/EBU)
24-bit/96kHz optical S/PDIF Out (switchable to AES/EBU)
Two sets of MIDI In/Out
Four stereo 1/8 in. Speaker Outputs (configurable from stereo to 7.1)
Stereo Headphone Output
Firewire Interface

I am only selling because I want to give ProTools a try, and I need to buy an MBox 2 or an M-Audio setup to use the software. I will be very sad to see this go but such is life! Whoever buys this will have an extremely high-quality home recording setup, or the basis for a full-featured studio."
