Which combo?

I have had a good look through the forum over the last couple of days, and have found it very interesting. I have specifically looked at peoples experiences with amps, and as is to be expected, "one mans meat is another mans poison".
Just what do you all think is the best combo I could buy for £350. Give or take a quid or two.
I would really appreciate your views on this.
Thank you gentlemen.

A lot less than your budget, but I would put forward the Fender Rumble 100 1x15 combo. Sounds amazing. Don't know if it's powerful enough for what you want but for 100W it sure is loud. Great sound too. I'm really pleased with mine.

what sort of stuff do you play and what volume? do you usually plug into the PA, so you're using the your amp for monitoring

What have you played in the past? liked and disliked?

There are lots that come to mind

2nd hand or new (2nd hand you get a higher spec amp)

Depends upon your criteria. Does it need to be lightweight? Does it need to go exceptionally loud? Do you have any particular tonal preferences? Do you need it to have any particular features?

S.P.

Thank you for your replies.
I am 63 years of age and have just joined my first band, would you believe. We are all around the same age and will be doing "small" local venues, so I will not require something to make the paint peel off the walls.
We do a mix of Rock'n'Roll and Country and Western stuff. ( I can just see some of you curling up and screaming into a pillow).
The requirement will be that I dont blow anyones hearing aid up, so you now have the full picture of what our gigs will be like. Dont you just wish you where me!
I had looked at the Fender Rumble 150, and the Ashdown 15-180 Evo 11, and pretty well everything else around that type. I will admit I am now confused.
Obviously weight will play a part as my muscles are'nt what they used to be.
Do you think I should take up the harmonica.
Seriously I would love your advice as you have more knowledge than I have.

Out of all the combos I`ve tried, the one with the sound quality that I preferred was the Fender Rumble. Wasn`t powerful enough for me - was in a heavy rock band with 2 guitarists using Marshall half-stacks - but was blown away by the amazing lows that it put out. Have never really liked Ashdown stuff, but that`s personal opinion on the sound, not on reliablity, features or build quality, and from what I understand, Ashdown customer service seems to be very good. Another make to definatley consider is Hartke - their gear doesn`t seem to be too weighty, and has a good tonal flexibility. Out of all the gear I`ve owned, my Hartke rig was probably the most versatile (and the lightest).

The top one isn't a combo, but this would do the trick and does sound great, not too heavy. The others are combo. Feel free to PM etc

The Ampeg would be my first choice, then the Ashdown or Fender.. you should be able to get one of these within that budget

No worries, I've bought/sold items here and it's much nicer through basschat.. including the the usual geeky bass chat :-) gotta love it
