thepurpleblob
I just acquired this... now back in TRB ownership after a number of years. So far, I'm well pleased with it. The early models are the best ones after all! More pictures when I find my camera...

AttitudeCastle
What's the string spacing of the Yamaha JP2? And the width of the neck at the nut and the 12th fret? I'm after a TRB 6 string (any year, as long as it's a TRB and a 6 string i'll consider it!) , so link me to any you see for sale! (PM me!) lucatus
Hi there, I have a bit of a technical issue with my new second-hand TRB, so I'm copying here my original post from the "Repairs" topic. Any comment will be welcome!
Help! Well, this is my second (and beloved) Yamaha TRB MIJ, and is the second where I found a bit of a problem: You can't cut the sound completely with the volume pot. Somehow there's always a tiny bit. In both cases the battery life is reduced drastically (my previous bass swallowed 1 every two months...) I'm just wondering, am I the only one whit this issues? My new one is second hand, but the previous one came straight from factory, so it looks like some defective batch...

Not much help im affraid
uncle psychosis
Hey folks I've posted this elsewhere but it makes sense to ask in here too: Annoyingly the stitching around the straps on my SKB hard foam case is beginning to fail. I like this case a lot, but this will be the second time I've experienced the same problem so I think I'll need to replace it with something else. I'm a big fan of Hiscox cases---anyone know if a 35" TRB1005 will fit? I read somewhere that the Hiscox cases are a bit tight in terms of length. The "EBP" model claims to be for longer basses but I'd rather know for sure before buying one... Any other recommendations for cases? I'd probably rather have something with shoulder straps and a couple of pockets but I'm more interested in weight/protection really. Thanks

In case you don't know the battery is switched by inserting the jack so don't leave it plugged in for extended periods.

Thanks
Hiscox do the STD-EBP which might be what you're looking for if you want a hard case for a TRB5 http://www.hiscoxcas...scox.htm#stdebp Alternatively, if you're looking for a really good gig bag, the iGig will do the trick (my TRB5 fits in there really well, and the padding is pretty good). I got mine from BassDirect. Edited March 14, 2012 by louisthebass
thepurpleblob
My TRB5 is currently sitting in a Musicman case, so I don't think they are terribly fussy case wise.
uncle psychosis
Quick update for the benefit of people searching in future- a Hiscox STD-EBS fits perfectly.

7string
I found this hanging on the wall at the local Cash Generator store It just needed some TLC and a new jack to bring it back to life. Sounds absolutely huge and great with a pick. Muted lines sounds especially great.

originalfunkbrother
Guys, Maybe the wrong forum to post this but how do I repair the tone knobs on a Yamaha TRB? The bass tone knob keeps falling off... Thanks.
BassHertz
The knobs have little grub screws in them. You will need a 2mm allen key to tighten them

Rich
God, I am so jealous of you guys. There are some beautiful basses on this thread. IMHO, the TRBs are possibly the finest factory basses money can buy.
