I am a long time TalkBass user who needed a bit more local advice and expertise. I live on the Oxfordshire/Gloucstershire border and have been playing for about 10 years. I am in a band called The Institute who are gigging mainly in London. At the moment I am rocking on this:

It is a Waterstone Indra shortscale semi-hollow [url="http://www.waterstoneguitars.com/bass_indra.shtml"]http://www.waterstoneguitars.com/bass_indra.shtml[/url]

I bought it online from Bass North West and had it shipped over. I basically wanted a Gretsch but could in no way afford one so I thought this offered the best compromise between cost and quality compared to Eastwoods, DiPintos, Italias etc
