The underside looks pretty battered - what happened to it and has it affected the unit at all?

Cheers.

Just had a quick look through the patch list on the Roland web site - does it have stuff like flute, sax, trumpet etc patches too? They didn't seem to be listed.

Cosmetically it is quite marked on the underside, not sure how it got the marks as I haven't had it from new. It is purely cosmetic the unit works perfectly.

No no synth patches you'd need something like a GR33 or GR20 for that, this takes the magnetic signal and modifies it rather than using the signal to trigger synth sounds via midi.

This is like a line 6 variax in a box, guitar modelling including alt tunings.

There's loads of info here including some good sound samples.
OK, thanks. I remember the original VG-8 demo, and had been reasonably sure it did all the synthy stuff, but it sounds like they tweaked the 88 to be more guitary. It's a GR30/33 I want.
I've a GR33, excellent fun and dead useful in the covers band.
