Cygnus x-1
who were they??
It’s a bit of a dumb one this, but, a couple of friends asked me to a rock covers band gig, when we turned up, unbeknown to us the rock band had cancelled a few days earlier. The jazz funk band were the short notice replacement, we watched their first set and ok it was to, but we didn’t stay for the second set as my buddies were expecting a rock band. As far as I know they played original material but there were a couple of less commercial Simply Red numbers in there, unfortunately I can’t remember their name. Bass sound was good though. Rayman
My signature says it all for me. You can play any style on any bass, period. There's no such thing as a rock bass, funk bass, etc etc. I, for example, quite happily used to slap a Thunderbird, and it sounded great. Any bass, any style, simple. Doddy
Who saw anyone funking on a ric Doddy? Thats just wrong on all levels!
It was just an example really. Although Rick James was pictured with one on the cover of 'Street Songs.' OK... He didn't play bass on the album, but still,it must give it some funk credence. urb
My J bass is great for most funk sounds - it's a good loud bass too, the Glockenklang pre kicks butt - I just added some wah-funk stuff in the recordings forum too
