Gust0o Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 In an old case of being careful what you wish for, I hark back to my words in the stoner rock thread - "I've always wanted to play this kind of stuff." Well, now I'm being indulged courtesy of an old friend; who, independently, had much the same idea. Thus, after a quick jam and a fearsome session down the local, we're going to get some bods together next week to have a more serious look at what we can do. I've traded down a little since playing when I was younger. After I smashed my hand I didn't think I'd play much, so gone are most of the goodies. I've gone down to a Line 6 110 and my faithful Big Muff. Which worked well in my play room, but I'm wondering if I shouldn't break out the bank a little. What would you chaps recommend? Is the Big Muff enough, when putting a decent bass behind it? Are there other options or effects which would complement for nailing that sludge sound? I am, in short, very excited Quote
umph Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 yeah on full, if you can get lots of old peavey or sunn stuff you'll be well set Quote
ahpook Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 big muffs sound great at home, but when with a band they tend not to cut through. i don't like them that much for bass. i use a wounded paw battering ram in my stonerish rock band...sounds amazing, but i did have to get if from over the pond. umph Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 (edited) i use a muff, although mine is heavily modded with flat tone stack, a clean blend and a few other things to help it cut through Edited August 10, 2010 by umph Quote
