Funky music and Superstition are both great, we do both from time to time in our covers band, they are not to hard, and superstition allows you to play around alittle, funky music is rigid, so a good mix for starters

Check out Brothers Johnson "stomp" is a popular song, but anything by them has great bass

Funk is fantastic, too much to mention, check out the pop stuff and go in deeper later

Being a rookie myself I found these two quite easy and great to mess about to...sssssssssssssssslides n pops galore, don't matter where it will sound good ...I seem to learn a fair bit when I p**sing about

..may not be ones you may hear too often.
