Yeah............[/quote] Probably because there's just you & me that have heard of 'em Seriously, Cold Chisel are a bit "niche" - I'd lay money that most people would associate Jimmy Barnes with INXS & be completely unaware of his previous career. I found out about them completely by chance... they were supporting Slade at Chippenham GoldDiggers around 1982/3/4. Found a copy of "Circus Animals" in a local S/Hand shop & it's been a Desert Island Disc ever since. Cracking band. Great melodic songs, interesting arrangements. fine playing & stunning vocals. I keep meaning to have a go at tabbing out 'Bow River' and 'Hound Dog'... one day. Pete.

chris_b
I've heard of Jimmy Barnes. I used to see him wandering about at gigs in Sydney in 1980. Cold Chisel were very good but never had much success outside Oz.
Stingray5
Holy cr*p! 25 years working in and managing record stores and I still find stuff I missed the first time around... I discovered the Little River Band decades ago, so how I missed these guys I'll never know. Oh well, better late than never, eh?! Thanks wookmeista for flagging up CC. Great basslines, inventive & melodic, but never in the way. Pete.

WOOKMEISTA
Yeh Bassmasta is a good site but it's more of a guide. I find the harder the song, the less accurate they are. Basstabarchive.com was awesome but it's been down for years due to copyright laws.

Obviously some catching up to do, in which I note Amazon will assist quite nicely! Steve Edited August 15, 2010 by Stingray5
chris_b
Mental As Anything is another great Sydney band from the same time.
WOOKMEISTA
Mental as anything rule. "Live it up" is probabley their most popular song. Sick bass line. Wook
