I have, and I'm afraid to say it was rotten. I'm fairly sure they're not all stinkers... I think I was just unlucky.

This one had a G string that was 37,000 times louder than the others. it was weird.

It looked gorgeous, though.

I played something similar, one of the special runs they did, cant remember which one, it was OK, needed a set up though. I have a custom classic, which is a dream to play! is is the second one I've owned, the first one was just as good!!

I tried one of the special edition '64 relics with the Brazilian rosewood 'board about a year back. It cost around £2.2K and when I left the shop, thought about it and decided to buy it, it had gone. They got me an identical replacement and it wasn't the same. Felt totally different and the electrics didn't cut it. Picking up the Mexi Roadworn (which I was biased against), this guitar felt better, played better and sounded better that it's £2K+ brother. That said. I've just gotten a CS stackpot JAzz and it's one of the best things I've ever played.

odd, how they differ.........

I think I tried the same one that WoT tried and I agree there was something sadly amiss with the G string output; added to which I like a lower action than WoT :) and I'd expect a bass costing that much to set up well without shimming but that is what I'd have had to do to get it to work for me!

I had a Masterbuilt NOS '64 (fretless) and can claim with confidence that it was a sublime instrument (I'm not sure how much the quality might differ from a CS). It had a couple of finish/specification problems but no big deal
