Big_Stu Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 I'd only joined the forum shortly before he was lost to you all; but by coincidence I found this thread earlier today while checking something out for Last Bass Outpost. http://basschat.co.uk/lofiversion/index.php/t22751.html He surely did know his stuff. Much respect to the guy - from what you've said I feel I'm the poorer for not having known him. Quote
Stingray5 Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Looks like you may have this well in hand now guys and I look forward to seeing the resulting "compilation album" But should you need an extra helping hand with the search, let me know what's needed. Steve Quote
waynepunkdude Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 If everyone interested can send me a PM and I'll start organising everything tomorrow. Quote
Gust0o Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Has it really been a year? Good work, Wayne - I think we'd all really appreciate that, so thanks. Quote
Gust0o Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Today would have been Oldgit's birthday - I do think we're poorer for not having the old bugger to keep us out of mischief Happy birthday Si - still missed, chief. Quote
Happy Jack Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Someone gave me a little tin of after-dinner mints last year, with "Old Git" in large letters on the front. Just a coincidence, but I keep my picks in it now. Yup - still missed. Quote

Low End Bee Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 (edited) Only conversed via email with Si. But what a total gent he was. Edited August 11, 2016 by Low End Bee Quote
Schnozzalee Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 +1 ^ Got a chance to meet him at a Cardiff Bass Bash and he was exactly the same in person - Loved his Shuker 5 String P. Quote
tredders Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Top man. Much missed. I raised a glass yesterday. Quote
nash Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 I spent one day with Si, he picked me up on the way to a bassbash. Changed my life. We spoke on the way home about what direction my life was going in. At that time I was early mid 20's and undermotivated. He inspired me to make goals and achieve them, keep my head up and keep going. It was nice to honestly talk to someone who I didn't know a great deal and Si spoke straight and honestly. What a dude he was. RIP OldGit. Quote
Rich Posted August 17, 2016 Author Posted August 17, 2016 "He inspired me...". Those words seem to be a recurring theme here. The big guy touched so many peoples' lives in such a good way. I hope that somewhere, somehow, he knows that. Quote
