Clarky
I'm really not looking to sell this bass. However, if I don't find a taker for my AC Willie Weeks and noone wants my 76P fretless this is something I may have to grudgingly contemplate in order to pay the (Spanish) taxman. Thus wondered what you good folks think this is worth? 1972 Precision in Jamerson stylee, all-original except I replaced some stripped bridge screws with new repro screws from Howard, The Bass Doc (I have the originals still). Weighs 8.5 pounds (IIRC; maybe less). B width (1.625") neck is very easy in the hand. Low action and very resonant. No hard case. Has been seen by Old Horse Murphy, jonthebass and others and was originally sold to me by BC'er Chris Kelly 18 months or so ago Like I say, I am hoping it won't come to this
OliverBlackman
Rite then, some of these are a tad over priced but it gives you an idea http://www.vintageandrareguitars.com/web/o...asses/item/6561 http://www.andybaxterbass.com/details.php?id=63 http://www.nicksguitars.com/basses.htm http://thebassgallery.com/product_details....e=Bass%20Guitar I would be expecting something around £1900-£2000
Clarky
Thanks for those links. Over 2k seems pushing it, but then I already have experience of over-paying at V&R with my fretless

Grand Wazoo
Clarky if have to be honest I'd say anything between £1500 and £1700 but you are on to a bass which can only gain value rather than lose it, hence like many if I were you I'd hold on to it, and 20 years from now you're laughing it when you see the value it has reached. Dont sell it unless legging it really is not an option

Clarky
Having thought on further, there are other household things I could sell (non-music related) in order to raise some moolah if the Alleva and fretless don't sell. So I am not selling this lovely bass. Thanks for replies everyone. There WoT, you can speak to me again

JTUK
Met a bloke on our gig recently who bought a 72 P-bass off e-bay for £500 cash. Initially it was there for £400 but during the talks he upped it to £600 "'cos he found out what they were worth" He settled for a here and now cash offer of £500. Can't entirely recall how old this story was, but think it was fairly recent..?? I'd suggest the right buyer might pay £1400... depends how lucky you get with one of those. OliverBlackman
the values of fenders new and old have gone up because of the new increase in the cost of importing new fenders. Something to do with gibson saying that they wont sell their guitars in orders less than £20k so not as many shops decided to be a supplier and so more shops were ordering fenders who put their prices up to cream more out of the high demand. This is what iv been told by my dad so may not be 100% true but there has definately been a rise in fender prices.

Some basses, the American Standards, are nearly in the £1K area. PS Clarky, good choice. Dont sell! If I could actually play fretless, which Im not sure about until Ive had much more time on one, Id love your fretless. Im shocked at how it hasnt gone considering the condition. Happy Jack
Late to the thread, Clarky, but I am SOOOOO glad you're not selling that bass. At least, not until I can save up for it ...
