prismrock2003
hello all new member here and i just wanted to show you all my bass. you may laugh as it is a harley benton, made in china for thomann but you'll know that anyway. very cheap geddy anyway heres dome specs Adler body maple neck and fretboard (no skunk stripe though) not sure if the inlays are painted on but i think so. looks like wood grain through the black back of the neck and headstock have very think orangly gloss but doesnt get in the way of playability. pickups were crapish(it is a £100 bass lol) replaced them with duncan designed jazz. jb101 i think. shielded the body while changing pickups as there was quite a lot of buzzing, but think this was becasue there was no ground wire to the bridge lol but i replaced that i believe these basses are made in the same factory as sx but im not entirely sure anyway heres some pics(hopefully) please excuse the tiny crappy camera phone pics lol Michael
tredders
Welcome! A word of advice - lock away your credit card right now, otherwise you'll soon find the Buy & Sell section, and it's a slippery slope from then on! You'll discover things you didn't even know you needed! Oh, and remember, a cheap bass played well always sounds better than an expensive bass played badly. I know - I fall into the latter category Tredders
Cat Burrito
Bass looks good to me and we all started on cheap kit. I agree with Tredders here. Welcome to Basschat
Darkstrike
Cool bass, love the black blocks and binding.
prismrock2003
i was quite surprised with how well it played and how good it sounds. obvisouly im still in the process of setting it up and modding it. needs new strings but im a poor student so might have to play the ones on it for a while. just did the truss rod last night. that was the first time ive did that ever thankfully the bass is still in one piece.
There are a couple of really good Lakland Youtube vids about setting up your bass. Might be worth a look? Gust0o
I can definitely recommend the Lakland vids - great little insight into the science of having a decent bass. I think I started on an Encore, which was made of lead; this one looks very smart in comparison!
