Another friend of mine is selling his 1993 Ernie Ball MM Sabre. It's four stringer, 3 band eq, two pickups with 5-way selector switch. Maple fretboard, truss adjustement at the head. Color is maybe burgundy, not sure about this. He's including old hardshell case and strap. Bass looks and sounds great, there are no problems with her, just some dings and scratches you can expect from almost 20 years old instrument...

(Not hi-res) pics here:

Asking price is ~ 1000 GBP.

Mmmmm. Very nice!

Would trades be an option?

PM'd for pictures and price negotiations!

Hi,you could post the serial number on the EB forum.there's a thread on there just for that and someone from EB customer services will give you a date. Otherwise the dates will be in the neck pocket on both the body and the neck

Check this site out. http://myweb.ecomplanet.com/TOWN8019/

You should be able to get a good idea on there.
great basses, did anyone get a fix on the year? I have a hunch its more likely to be 83 rather than 93.
my 79 sabre has the heavier bridge - if it was an '83 wouldn't it have the same bridge ?

Its not an 83 that would be pre EB! The neck looks quite modern to me but with a four bolt plate and no "made in usa".Im saying 1988.A quick email to EB will give you an exact build date like my Jan 16th 2002 Stingray.

As we've all had to drool helplessly over this I think you owe it to us to find out the exact date!

If you dare take off the neck (actually no real problem) they may be a date stamped on the neck heel and/or body socket. Otherwise send the numbers to Gav at http://myweb.ecomplanet.com/TOWN8019/ as previously suggested. He is very helpful.

If the number is 029808 its likely to be '89-90.

Its a beauty, you got a great deal.

Hi guys,

I am the original owner of this nice Sabre who get the bass from US to Europe. Means I'm surely not the one who bought it from the store, but I played it for year and half here in Czech Republic. This was bought from some guy in NY with no info about history of the instrument but correct serial number 32908 gets the bass to one of really last Sabres made before production stop. If you look on musicmanbass.org pages, you can find exactly this serial number as: "32908...1991. Trans Red with Maple. Black pg. 3EQ. 4 bolt neck. Encircled "R" at the end of "Sabre" logo and not underneath." I can assure you this description fits and it wasn't me nor someone from Czech Rep. who have written that... :)

Edit: Note that originally I bought the bass with black pickguard...
