Quick heads up regarding musical instrument insurance.

Avoid E and L insurance.

This is a personal opinion after my personal experience with this horrendous company.

As you can see from the link, I'm not alone.

Didn't read the link, didn't need to. I used them for three years, each year was a PITA to get a renewal. The last time I tried to get thru for 5 days, left messages etc. Then it dawned on me that if it was that bad to GIVE them my money how band would it be to claim!!!!
Coincidentally within a few days there was a piece in the paper about someone having a hell of a lot of grief getting a settlememnt out of them, so I felt kinda right.
Also, they're not a designated musical insurance company, even though they claimed to be with me. I don't think any of them are.

Hiya mate

I'm insured through E&L, albeit through a broker, so I'm a bit concerned to hear you've had problems (especially as the broker rated them as one of the best insurers for musical instruments*). Can you expand, either here or by PM, on your specific problems? I've looked at the review link you posted but let's face it, most folks who are happy with the service don't post in those places, so such sites don't necessarily tell the full story.

Thanks

Chris

* which of course could simply translate as "they give us the best percentage on each new client"!

Yeah, my ex-fiancee. She had her horses insured through them & when one of them was ill they put every obstacle you could think of in the way of her claim.
IIRC the E&L stands for "Entertainment & Leisure" so they're covering any form of expensive hobby.

They sound pretty poor. Not really impressed with most insurers as the limitations of cover with most seem ridiculous. I had a car stolen two years ago from outside the venue we were playing and even though there was glass everywhere from the window they smashed AND my car insurance paid out for the vehicle the company insuring the guitar inside the car said that without the car I couldn't prove entry had been forced so they didn't pay. :)
