Cracking / Crakling pots

Hi peeps, what is the required gear / spray to use that would cure a crackling pot on an amp, and why do amp have this problems? Even new amps like my Mark Bass does it, I then have to wind the gain pot on an off a few times to clear it but I would like a more permanent solution. Is there a recommended spray for this?

I have always used Deoxit gold g5, i ain't cheap but i works really well.

Thanks for that so where do you spray it to be effective, should I lift the knob and spray it on and around the pot shaft?
