Floyd Pepper Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 Hi All, I took a punt on this; Bartolini TCT pre amp ...in the hope that it is in working order so that it will go in my Marcus Miller Jazz! Is there anyway in checking it before its installed? I'm not gifted technically, so I was going to get the job done by a Tech. Also, does anyone know of a good tech that would do the job in the Surrey / W.London area ? Cheers, Jim Quote
BassBod Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 It should be fine - they are cast in epoxy stuff and pretty indestructible..as long as the wires are all there. I guess you'll have to ask Bartolini if you don't get a diagram with it, but they are probably on-line somewhere. My guess is this is the inspiration for the Sadowsky circuit, so that's a good find! Ou7shined Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 Just solder it up to a jack socket, a spare pickup and connect a battery. Plug it in and tap the pup with something metal (paper clip, door key etc.). If you get a pop then it works. To get a better idea of it's sound, strum a bass (or guitar) while holding the pup as close to the strings. Quote
Floyd Pepper Posted August 21, 2010 Author Posted August 21, 2010 Thanks folks. I'll give that a go when it arrives. Quote
