acoustic bass strap buttons

hello,
i have an electro acoustic bass and have tried playing with the strap tied round the neck,
but find it just wants to fall off my shoulder.
the bass has a strap button/input jack on the bottom of it and was wondering where the best place
to put one for the front of the strap, or will this potentially weaken the bass?

The traditional place to put the second strap button on acoustic guitars is the back of the heel. This is because it's generally the only other place on the body where you are guaranteed to be screwing into solid wood which you need to be doing to support the weight.

However it does tend to make the guitar tilt forward when on the strap and the longer scale neck of the bass might introduce neck dive as well.
