molan Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 (edited) So - bit of a tough call this one but I have too many basses and a, rather expensive, Fodera obsession that's haunting me at the moment! I bought this fairly recently from the original owner who specified it from new. It really is a stunning instrument and by far the nicest Sadowsky I've ever played (I've owned two other NYC basses). In fact a friend of mine who is a fabulous player and a full pro musician tried it and said it was not only the best Sadowsky he'd ever played but tat it was the best bass he'd tried this year - this is praise indeed as he plays a lot of basses, lol. I used it one gig and the sound engineer said it was the clearest most defined bass she'd ever heard in the venue. She's a very good bass player as well! For anyone who doesn't know about the Will Lee models there's a stack of information at the Sadowsky site: http://www.sadowsky.com/instruments/will_lee_model.html Also a review from Bass Player here: http://www.bassplayer.com/article/sadowsky...une-2010/115973 The two key differences are that it has a slightly narrower nut width than a regular Sadowsky J neck and, the big departure for Roger Sadowsky, it has a switchable, adjustable, mid boost. The neck width means it's super fast to play and the simple little mid-boost means you can really change the core sound at the flick of a switch. Like almost all current NYC basses it's feather light - really a perfect gigging bass because of this! The bass looks like it's more or less new with no visible marks that I can see. It comes with a Sadowsky hard/soft case plus all of the accessories like the little set-up kit, cleaning fluid, polishing cloth etc plus all the original paperwork. I think in general the Will Lee models retail for about £500 more than standard NYC basses & base price on one of these from the Sadowsky shop is now over $4,000 and I was quoted about $4,750 to replicate this particular version with the figured maple top and birdseye maple board (which is really very nice indeed!). With shipping and import duties that would make a new one of these, in this spec, close to £4,000 in the UK. Definitely not to be confused with the Metro models that have started to appear at around the £2,350 mark! Happy to ship anywhere really:) I have quite a few photos but these two from the previous owner are better quality Edited August 22, 2010 by molan

wayne58 Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Cheers guys It's coming to a good home north of Watford, watch this space for one or two basses to be listed shortly, as I will need to recover my finances.
molan Posted August 23, 2010 Author Posted August 23, 2010
Shut up Barrie!
One of the 'stock' items has sold already! but there is still another one available. . . I tell you - Roger should have me on commission!
Toasted Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 The turquoise with blocks is too OTT for me, but the solid blue with the plain fretboard is fantastic. I'd love it.
NYC current stock is here: http://www.sadowsky.com/stock/nyc_b_is.html Metros (including lots of WL in plain colours) here: http://www.sadowsky.com/stock/metro_b_is.html You have to email them to get a price list though
CHRISDABASS Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Got a price list off Kevin last week The crazy one with the blocks is $4475 (reduced by $500 due to it being loaned out to will lee) The LP blue one lists at $4025 thats £2580 in our money, shipping is $200 (£130) then there's just import duty which from my experience is less than you might think So £2710 before import duty! Man i wish i'd ordered two NYC's back in june 08 as this bass including import duty would have been about £2150 or somethin Still im sure its worth it as i'd say these are certainly keepers!
JTUK Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 I agree the crazy blocked one is all wrong, to my eyes. The solid blue one is nice
