tino Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010
I would imagine the sum total of all was in the region of £12................................... I have arrived at this figure because my wife is overlooking me
I base my findings thus Gretsch G 6072 £1 Fender USA P £1 Fender Jaz £1 Fender Jag £1 Ibanez 74 RC £0.50p obviously the other 20+ must have been less than 50p each................DEAR! Oh and the amps were courtesy of the fairies Quote
thodrik Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Fender 1978 P bass - £390 (a steal) Sadowsky Metro MV 4 - £1500 (not a steal!) Viger Excess - £1200 (think they are going for £2000 now, so thats okay) Gibson 1974 EB3 - £750 (I think that it is worth a bit more now, but nothing major) £3840 then, add in my guitar and its around £4400. Adding in my Double Bass as well puts it at around £8400! I don't want to start considering amps now. Quote

Doctor J Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 It's an absurd figure, I won't even try to count it. Then again, I once went on a bender for about four years and, whenever I think about how much that cost me, I don't feel so bad about the instruments Quote
Clarky Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Not including FS '75 Jazz, its between £5-6k for me I don't feel bad about it given how much Mrs C has spent on shoes and handbags Quote
The Burpster Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 mine is not TOO absured but it would be if I had to replace them.......... Quote
velvetkevorkian Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 About £1k for my bass guitars only; about £3k including the upright. Quote
luckman67 Posted August 23, 2010 Author Posted August 23, 2010 It's amazing how much we all seem to have invested in our hobby / love of the bass guitar. When I first started to learn the bass guitar (23 years later & still learning) my first bass was a Marlin Sidewinder KB24,which cost secondhand £89 I thought that was expensive. Quote
molan Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 All I'm prepared to say is that if I sold all of my basses I could clear my mortgage - thinking about it this way makes me feel like they are an investment & not a cost, lol Quote
luckman67 Posted August 23, 2010 Author Posted August 23, 2010 This has turned out to be a good thread,I love the humour in some of the answers. Luckily for me my girlfriend has her own laptop & does not know what bass forums I visit (I hope). Quote
funkypenguin Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 To replace all my gear, brand new...would be around the £2000 - £3000 mark including amps and effects I dread to think what some of the collections on here (Cetera and Doctor of the Bass, for example) would set one back! Quote

parker_muse Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 MIM Precision: 380 CMI Rickenfaker: 130 Vintage Stingray Copy: 110 Peavey 2x10: £120 Alien Audio 1x15: 100 Ashdown Superfly: 170 = £810. Not bad for a biggish set up on a budget! Quote
Truckstop Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Yamaha RBXJM1 - £400 Washburn XB600 - £275 (ebay steal!) GK 400RB-IV - £350 Cabs and Sub - £350 Master Blaster - £129 PedalTrain, ODB-3 and Tuner - £180 =£1684! And that is literally all i've ever bought apart from my first bass and practice amp which were gifts from my parents. And my Stagg which was also a gift! Truckstop Quote
Bloodaxe Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 I'll play... TSB-400 - £120 + Kahler (£180) = £300 RSB-5 - £160 RSB Special - £50 ZZB Deluxe - £380 SB-900 - £350 SB-1000 - £250 but with all the mods nearer £500 So that's... £1740 or thereabouts, not including P&P, train tickets, etc. Factor in the rig at around £800, & it all totals to a figure not unadjacent to: £2540 P. Quote
dougal Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Eeek. Too much. Basses, GW + 2x Sadows (1 usa, 1 metro) + ray+ warwick... £5k ish plus a double bass. Then a les Paul and a peavey wolfgang... Mind you, as has been pointed out, less than the cost of my wife's car, and that's just going to depreciate. However, I look back at the £1k I spend on a 486 with 4mb of RAM and a 28.8k modem and that's where I've lost silly money. At least with the basses they don't depreciate THAT much Quote
charic Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Just south of £1.8k I think in basses and including amps probably around £2.3k I don't feel too bad Quote
Truckstop Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 (edited) Does anyone have any idea how much Carp fishers spend on their hobby?! An half decent rod's nearly a grand! We should never feel bad about the amount of money we spend on our rigs. Truckstop. edit: shocking spelling mistakes! Edited August 25, 2010 by Truckstop Quote
BottomEndian Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Basses: about £2.5k (and they'd be a fair bit more to replace) Amp/cabs: about £1.5k Pedals/boards/connectivity: about £1.5k Yikes. Quote
